Celestial Fireworks Chapter 3

Chapter 03
Chapter 03
*

The next morning, Jiang Yue and I returned to the Lin family’s old estate. Contrary to my expectations, there was no sign of a pitiful “little lamb.” My brother, Lin Xincheng, sat at the table in a crisp white shirt, calmly stirring his coffee with a golden spoon. His long, pale fingers curled gracefully around the handle, and the rising steam blurred his chiseled, jade-like features.

He spoke with a slow but unwavering voice, “Dad, I’m not here to ask for your opinion. I’m here to inform you. I don’t like women. I love Zhou Yichen. The only name on my marriage certificate will be his.”

My father’s face twisted in shock and rage, veins bulging on his forehead. “Unfilial son! Unfilial son!” His anger was palpable—the revelation that my brother liked men had clearly rocked him to his core.

Peeking out from behind Jiang Yue, I met my father’s blazing eyes and forced a dry smile. “Dad, you’ve already scolded my brother, so you can’t scold me too, right?”

Dad: “…”

Mom: “…”

Brother: “…”

Mom dabbed at her eyes, tears glistening. She knew her son well—seeing his cold, resolute expression, she realized there was no turning back. No matter how they objected, it was useless. Lin Xincheng wasn’t some spoiled second-generation heir who could be manipulated with money or power. He’d taken the reins of the Lin family early on, earning a reputation in both the family and the business world for his ruthless decisiveness. No one could stop him.

Still, it was a pity about Jiang Yue—a genuinely good girl. Mom took her hand, sighing with regret. “Jiang Yue, I’m so sorry. I always thought you and Xincheng were in love. It’s a shame we won’t become family after all.”

Brother: “…”

Me: “…”

Ahem, actually, there’s still a chance we’ll be family—just not in the way Mom expects. The “daughter-in-law” might become a “daughter-in-law” in a different sense. I wondered if Mom could accept that.

Jiang Yue, ever the charmer, quickly soothed Mom’s disappointment. Mom shot my brother a look of exasperation, then patted Jiang Yue’s hand with affection before turning her frustration on me. “If only Xinyu were half as gentle and well-behaved as you, Jiang Yue. She’s been a handful since she was little—always running wild, never letting us rest.”

Me: “…”

Mom, you really don’t have to compare us like that.

A few days later, I overheard Mom anxiously asking Dad about the Lin family’s next heir, now that my brother was openly with a man. The Lin family wasn’t just any wealthy household in Yucheng—they were practically royalty. Dad made a snap decision: “No problem. We still have Xinyu. When she gets married, her first child will take the Lin surname, boy or girl—that’s our next heir.”

I was left speechless. Did it ever occur to them that I might not have a husband—or any children with a man at all? I confided my worries to Jiang Yue, who only smiled and kissed my forehead. “Leave it to me. I’ll handle it when the time comes.”

Jiang Yue was a powerhouse in her own right. Even though she and my brother could barely stand each other, business was business. That weekend, she brought a project proposal to discuss with my brother, and I shamelessly tagged along.

The villa was unusually quiet. I poured Jiang Yue a glass of water, then headed upstairs to find my brother. The door was ajar. As I hesitated, I suddenly heard a weak, breathless reprimand from inside: “Zhou Yichen! Stop it—ah…”

What followed was a series of muffled gasps and broken pleas. “Slower! I said slower!”

Then, silence.

My mind went blank. Wait—was my brother…?

Once the shock wore off, I grinned wickedly. Zhou Yichen, you finally got tamed by my brother—wait, something felt off. I listened closer. The one making those desperate noises was… my brother.

My brother!

The same Lin Xincheng who oozed alpha energy and always had to be in control—he was actually the bottom?

I floated back downstairs in a daze.

“I shipped the wrong couple dynamic…” I muttered.

Jiang Yue blinked in confusion. “What?”

“I shipped the wrong couple!” I repeated, devastated.

She still looked lost. “What do you mean?”

“My brother… he’s the bottom!” I wailed.

Jiang Yue’s jaw dropped. “Wait, how do you know? Are they… right now?”

I nodded gravely.

Who could understand the pain of shipping the wrong dynamic? My heart was in pieces, but I tried to recover.

After a moment, Jiang Yue burst out laughing, her grin stretching from ear to ear. “Lin Xincheng, you finally got what you deserve!”

She never imagined that someone as proud and domineering as my brother—the “great white shark” of the Lin family—would actually be willing to be the bottom for love. He must really like Zhou Yichen.

I quietly fetched two bottles of milk from the kitchen. Judging by the intensity upstairs, they wouldn’t be coming down anytime soon. I handed one to Jiang Yue and drank the other myself.

So there we were: two single women, both interested in each other, sitting alone in a sunlit living room. The air between us grew thick with unspoken tension, a slow-burning chemistry that seemed to wind its way through every glance and gesture.

Before I knew it, my milk bottle slipped from my hand, clattering to the floor and rolling away.

For a long moment, I braced myself against Jiang Yue, both of us catching our breath. Her lips glistened, a flush spreading across her cheeks. She was still dressed in her sharp business suit, but her collar was rumpled, and her neck glowed with a pearly sheen. Her long black hair curled softly, and the mix of cool elegance and seductive charm was almost too much to bear.

She licked her lips and gave me a sly, enchanting smile. “Xinyu, you’re so sweet.”

My mind went blank. How could anyone resist this?

I swallowed hard, abandoning any pretense of restraint. Who cared if this was my brother’s villa? Beautiful  sister, let’s keep going!
